1) Letter to EVA = Complete failure. One bag needed to be checked due to weight. Small seats. Food was interesting. Note for future 20 hr flights: when faced with decision between Scrambled Eggs and Chinese Porridge, think about choosing the one you've eaten before. Angela sent hers back.
2) How close is Bangkok to the sun? It feels close. Jon hasn't stopped perspiring (aka. sweating purfusely.) At the Starbucks, the girl at the counter advised him to stand under the AC.
3) Taxis are Hot Pink. Or neon orange. Or lime green. Mostly pink, and almost never yellow. Is this "girly"? We haven't decided.
4) There are stray cats and dogs everywhere. Angela won't even touch the dogs, incredible considering her typical magnetic attraction to there faces. Jon is happy about this.
5) Tuk Tuks: This is an easy way to get somewhere; however, difficult to get where you want to go. An area where the language barrier is fully in the Thais' favor, the line is fine between an empty promise and a lack of understanding. That said, we had a nice tour of Bangkok, including many Temples, Gem Shops, lucky Budhas, and Suit factories. The highlight was the grand palace.
6) Street Markets are crowded and chaotic, Malls are exotic and plush (think Vegas), but the food at both is amazing. Spicy papaya salad, spicy sausage, spicy fried chicken pieces, chicken and rice, sweet pork and rice, fruit everywhere, and our Hotel serves a classic American buffet (strange, but nice).
We want to share pictures but blogger is taking FOREVER to uplaod and we must catch a flight to Chiang Mai in 10 mins. We will post some once we are settled in there. Love you all and hope everyone is great back home.
